Mayor Austin currently holds the Vice Chair position for the Chisholm Creek Utility Authority, and serves on the City of Bel Aire Public Building Commission. Previously, he served as a Bel Aire City Council Member (2009 – 2013), and as Co-Chairman of the Bel Aire Economic Development Advisory Council. Austin also formerly served as a Board Member for the American Red Cross, Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) – Kansas Chapter, and Wichita Habitat for Humanity.

About the Mayor

Mayor Austin is a huge Philadelphia Phillies baseball fan, and is an advocate for preventing child abuse and promoting adoption. Prior to joining the executive staff of KCSL, Austin was the Director of Development and Marketing for the historic Wichita Orpheum Theatre. He also served for more than 12 years as Manager of Public Relations and Events for Envision.

In 1991, after graduating high school in Red Hill, PA (north of Philadelphia), Austin moved to Kansas to attend Bethel College. He has enjoyed living in the Sunflower State ever since. Austin is married to his college sweetheart, Keturah, who is the Senior Communications Manager at Spirit Aerosystems. They live in Summit Hill Addition of Bel Aire with their two rescue cats and one rescue Schnauzer/Poodle mix. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, reading David Baldacci and John Grisham novels. volunteering for animal rescue groups - but most of all, spoiling and showing off his two grandchildren.
