Planning Commission

The primary role of the planning commission is to hear applications and petitions related to City planning and zoning. Working closely with the City Building Inspector, the Planning Commission reviews building permits, zoning variances, and other related land use or building issues. The Planning Commission is composed of seven members:

The Planning Commission meets on the Thursday between City Council meetings at 6:00 pm. All requests to be heard by the Planning Commission must be placed on the agenda. New agenda items must go through a pre-application process before the application can be processed. All agenda items that require notification to be published must be complete and submitted by the listed application date. Information to be placed in the planning packet must be received by the deadline date shown in the table below. Materials must be submitted by the deadline date listed; items that need to be published must be submitted by 8 am on the application deadline.

All site plans must be reviewed by the City engineer; a copy of the required plans must be delivered directly to the Schwab Eaton offices at 8615 W Frazier Ln # 2, Wichita, KS 67212, phone: (316) 722-4472. Costs associated with engineering will be passed on to the applicant.
