Public Works

The Public Works Department houses the Water, Sewer and Streets departments. The department's seven full time employees are responsible for the water and sewer pumping facilities and maintaining the distribution systems. Staff performs the patching and grading of the city streets, as well as the snow removal and ice control during the winter months. Public Works staff is available 24 hours a day to handle water or sewer emergencies.

Water & Sewer

Bel Aire's water comes from two sources: the City of Wichita and the Chisholm Creek Utility Authority. The City has four state licensed water operators who strive to insure the integrity, safety and quality of the water that Bel Aire citizens drink every day. Wichita supplied water is a blend of both surface water from Cheney Lake and ground water pumped from the Equus Aquifer Beds. Chisholm Creek Utility Authority (CCUA) pumps only ground water from 12 wells. Bel Aire has received approximately half of its water from CCUA and strives to increase that percentage annually. CCUA supplies water and sewer treatment to both Bel Aire and Park City.

Paying Your Bill

Utility customers now have several ways to pay their bills. Customers can come into the Utility Office located in City Hall during normal business hours, 8 am - 5 pm. Payments can also be put in the drop box located in the west parking lot of City Hall. Customers can also pay their utility bill through automatic bank draft.  By submitting this ACH Banking Authorization Form and documentation, customers don't have to worry about forgetting a payment. By the end of 2009, customers should be able to pay their utility bills on-line through a secured website.
