City of Bel Aire

Single Stream Recycling Program

Bel Aire supports a City-wide recycling program. Residents are encouraged to recycle as much as possible to insure that resources can be conserved. Participation in the program is optional, but all residents have a recycling fee applied to their monthly utility bills

Residents who choose to participate in the recycling program will receive a tan recycling cart, similar to the blue trash carts. The recycling bags are no longer accepted.  Please do not put reycling bags in the carts.  All recyclable material directly into their tan carts, including shredded paper.  It is encouraged that all residents rinse out recyclables before placing them in the cart., but there is no need to bag items or separate them.  Stutzman has a process for separating all recyclables once collected.

If you have not received a tan recycling cart and wish to participate in the recycling program, contact City Hall at (316) 744-2451 to order a recycling cart.

Disposing of Household Hazardous Waste

Bel Aire residents can dispose of old household chemicals and produces at the Sedgwick County Household Hazardous Waste Facility (HHW). Items that cannot be disposed of in the trash or recycle bin can be taken to the HHW Facility for proper disposal. Almost all chemical items from a residential house can be disposed of including: paint, aerosols, batteries, used oil, gasoline, antifreeze, pesticides, herbicides, garden chemicals, household cleaners, fluorescent bulbs, computers, and propane.

There is no charge for the use of the HHW Facility. This service is provided free to Sedgwick County residents to help prevent them from getting into the waste stream and polluting the environment. Businesses generating less than 55 pounds a month of hazardous waste are also eligible to use the Small Quantity Generator program at the Household Hazardous Waste Facility.
